![]() Arlington Christian School HistoryThe 1975 founding of Arlington Christian School was prompted by more than social reaction. Today's commonplace school shootings, junior high drug abuse and teen-age pregnancy were not even dreamt of in this rural community at that time. There was, however, a growing awareness of a need for an affordable alternative, a school that would offer education consistent with the principles of Holy Scripture as well as positive peer pressure. The vision of a school where wholesome responsible attitudes could be nurtured all day, five days a week grew and became a passion for a handful of stouthearted parents, businessmen and pastors. In September of 1975, with 33 students being taught by 4 teachers, Arlington Christian School was launched. The modest beginning mushroomed to 92 students the second year. The passion became a reality. By the end of the first decade of existence, A.C.S, was competing athletically in the Northwest "B" League in soccer, basketball and track & field. Both boys and girls, Junior High and High School teams were fielded. While plans were being made for a permanent home, in 1990 the school received the near fatal news. The lease of accommodations was not renewed. The school was homeless. Continuation became a day to day affair. Then the present gem of a campus was located and acquired. Nearly 22 acres of prime potential. Challenges were met head on. The campus, formerly a dairy farm, had to be rezoned. For the site to be approved, water would need to be brought under the freeway. Every step of the way God caused "... all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) In 1994, after years of meeting in temporary facilities, the school year began with a renewed zeal. The little band of tenacious believers opened their doors at this strategic location. Easily accessed and amidst the hub of development, Arlington Christian School was at home at 2425 200th Avenue N.E., near Smokey Point. At the heart of its character, as a college prep school, it is ACS's intention to expose students to the most vigorous academic discipline. The school, which is kindergarten through twelfth grade, aspires to recognition as the academic presence in north Snohomish County. Arlington Christian School is nondenominational and state approved.
